Living Gratefully: How Giving Shapes Who We Are
At Rayhons Financial, gratitude isn’t just a feeling—it’s a way of life. We believe that saying “thank you” is best expressed through action. This month, as we reflect on all we’re grateful for, we’re reminded that generosity and community go hand in hand.
One of the ways we live this out is through our partnerships with the Arizona Rattlers and Ridge Riders, where we proudly serve veterans and first responders. Through these partnerships, Rayhons Financial provides tickets for veterans and their families to attend games and special events. During each event, these heroes are honored, recognized, and invited to take part in unforgettable experiences.
Recently, we sat down with members of our team to talk about what inspires their commitment to community, service, and gratitude.
Q: Have you always been involved in your community? Tell us a little bit about your background.
JW Rayhons:
“Growing up around farming and construction, you see people helping each other all around you. We also grew up in small, often lower-income communities, and we were fortunate to have people and organizations step in when we needed it.
My first experience serving the community was coaching youth basketball—I didn’t even realize that was ‘service’ at the time. But over the years, I’ve noticed there’s a quiet bond that happens when we serve one another. Something shifts inside you, and it inspires more kindness, more generosity.
It’s like a ripple effect—someone holds a door open, then that person helps pick up something dropped, then another gives a compliment, and that kindness leads to something bigger, maybe even saving a life. Aren’t you glad someone opened the door?”
Q: What inspired you to make an effort to give back to veterans and start these partnerships?
JWR:
“First, I think it’s important to rethink the phrase ‘give back.’ Instead, what if we simply give? There’s no way to measure the depth of what our veterans and their families have done for us.
We give, serve, and support them because they give, serve, sacrifice, and protect us. The freedom we enjoy is because of them. Our partnerships are a small way to create positive, memorable moments for these families—to remind them they’re seen and appreciated.”
Q: How would you encourage others to give? What could an individual do right now?
JWR:
“Giving is a personal choice. When generosity comes from a genuine desire to make a positive impact, it will always matter—no matter the size.”
Q: How are you inspired by the giving that happens at Rayhons Financial?
Nyah Hager:
“Rayhons Financial models generosity in a way that inspires me to live with that same spirit—seeking opportunities to make people feel valued and appreciated. It challenges me to go the extra mile, knowing that even small acts can ripple out and change lives.”
Mikayla Orser:
“The way Rayhons Financial gives back is rooted in an others-first mindset. When we honor a veteran or first responder, our goal is to give them a truly special experience—to spotlight their story and show deep gratitude for their sacrifice. It’s a selfless night focused on sacrifice, gratitude, and freedom.”
Q: What’s something you love about your job and these partnerships?
NH:
“I love capturing stories that show the real impact of our work—people feeling seen, valued, and appreciated. Many of these experiences wouldn’t exist without Rayhons Financial’s support, and it’s humbling to help share them. Most of all, I love being part of a team that puts people first and truly cares about helping others create their ideal, joyful life.”
MO:
“I love being part of the process that brings it all together—watching the night unfold for our partners, but especially for the veteran and their family. It’s a joy to see their smiles and know they’re being celebrated.”
Q: What is something you wish everyone knew?
JWR:
“Your level of wealth will always equal your level of gratitude—or said another way, it will never exceed it. When you look for the good, you’ll find it.”
MO:
“I wish everyone knew that More to Life Than Money® truly means what it says. It’s about living with purpose and intention—not just for money, but for meaning.”
NH:
“There’s nothing more rewarding than stepping beyond yourself to create joy for someone else. Gratitude has a way of multiplying—it fills others, and it fills you too. Life is too short to hold back generosity. Step out of your comfort zone, make someone smile, and joy will always find its way back to you.”
A Grateful Way Forward
As JW shared, “Instead of giving back, what if we simply give?”
At Rayhons Financial, that’s the heart of who we are. We’re committed to serving people first—always—and honoring those who give so much to protect and strengthen our communities.
This season, we invite you to pause and consider what gratitude could look like in your own life. Maybe it’s volunteering, writing a note of appreciation, or simply opening a door for someone else. Every act of gratitude creates a ripple that makes the world a little kinder.
